Better Than Ever

Flawlessly finished and the epitome of functionality, this kitchen proves a welcome addition to the home

To build a dream kitchen, it was necessary that these owners build an extension to their home. It was a big decision but one they were willing to go ahead with to gain a new kitchen and living area. In order to fulfil the owners’ high expectations, designer Garrett Hebden set out on the task of redesigning the old masonite kitchen with narrow benchtops into a spacious culinary haven.

Opting for the provincial look, a feature island has been added for a touch of modern style. While this island bench serves an aesthetic purpose, it also aids the flow of work around the room. To this end, a sink has been added into the island bench, keeping the cleaning space to a minimum and freeing up the rest of the bench space for preparation and cooking.

The open design of the kitchen allows the room to breathe, creating a welcoming feel. This homely ambience is heightened by the use of timber in the kitchen’s design.
Durability was of primary concern, both to the owners and the designer. Vinyl was the material chosen to make the cabinets, which ensures that the cabinetry will retain its good looks for many years to come. Vinyl has also been used to construct the panels. Hardy, reconstituted stone has been used for all benchtops except the island, which is made from solid jarrah.
With modern appliances implemented throughout, this kitchen blends a little traditional country styling with a dash of the modern, a recipe for success for the owners.
