Classic Charm

A traditional kitchen, complete with modern conveniences, from Better Bathrooms & Kitchens

Renovating can be trying at the best of times but it’s made even trickier when the subject is a heritage Victorian-era home. The owners wanted a space that would honour the history of their place but with all the contemporary trimmings.

The couple was initially disheartened when visiting showrooms full of modern designs but upon recommendation they called on Better Bathrooms & Kitchens and plans for their French provincial kitchen were soon being drawn.

What resulted from their collaboration with designer Garrett Hebden is a warm and inviting space with careful attention to detail. The handpainted Café Latte cabinetry from Farmers and lambs tongue-edged CaesarStone benchtops replaced the dark wooden fittings that previously dominated the room. Inclusions such as soft-close drawers and state-of-the-art appliances assure the kitchen is highly functional while stylish touches like the marble tile splashback complete the kitchen with a serene ambience.

Rather than looking down on the old chimney alcove as a burden it was seen as the charming asset it truly was and became a feature of the kitchen. A new upright cooker was installed to take full advantage of the classic design mark and is a prime example of how this space marries old-world enchantment with practical pieces.

The clean and uncluttered layout gives this kitchen a welcoming presentation fitting for this gracious home.
