A healthy dose of French-provincial flavour injects life into this period-style kitchen
Just because something may be old, it doesn’t automatically make it charming and quaint. This was certainly the case with the client’s previous kitchen. Extremely old and tired, the existing kitchen was unable to “keep pace” with the rest of the home’s gorgeous period décor.
Garrett Hebden from Better Bathrooms & Kitchens was given the task of restoring the kitchen to its former glory. As the French-provincial look is very much in fashion at the moment, it seemed like the perfect place to start.
Garrett has used a number of techniques and features to give the space a cosy, homely atmosphere. Tesrol vinyl wrap in Classic White was used for the cabinetry, while the warmly toned Antique Brown granite benchtops and jarrah-topped island blend graciously with the polished timber floor to produce a room with bundles of character.
Ornate display cabinets with integrated lighting showcase the owners’ most treasured pieces, enhancing the kitchen’s distinct personality. A delicate mantel, chimney breast, corbels and dentil crown mouldings complete the look.
This kitchen is not all about good looks, of course, and functionality also comes into play. A raised bar near the sink, the stepped design peninsular bar and a sizeable utility cupboard with bi-fold doors have all been incorporated for enhanced efficiency.
Better Bathrooms & Kitchens has produced a special kitchen that’s definitely fitting of its tasteful surroundings and an absolute joy for the owners to spend time in.
