Better Bathrooms & Kitchens have altered the notion of the common kitchen with this serene design.
From the moment you enter this bright, light-filled kitchen, all troubles seem to melt away as the beautifully composed design slowly soothes your senses. Every element has been considered – the wide, open bench tops provide ample space and the position of the breakfast bar looks onto the stunning kitchen, whilst allowing glimpses of the adjoining garden.
When the owners first came to Better Bathrooms & Kitchens, they wanted to create a kitchen with an oriental feel that would complement their love of Asian culture and cooking. The owners had elected to renovate their entire kitchen space, meaning Better Bathrooms & Kitchens were presented with a blank canvas. To synchronise the kitchen with the remainder of the home, they drew upon the few existing elements, including the polished jarrah floorboards, to form the design and select the materials. A combination of granite, stainless steel and pressed bamboo laminate was selected for the materials, as well as jarrah to match the existing flooring.
Having selected a granite bench top – marble finish in Purple Horizon – the owner provided a fantastic focal point for the room. A colour palette of neutral, complementary and contrasting colours was chosen, in varying textures and finishes, to offset the marble centrepiece. The combination of charcoal, cream and teal creates the perfect
balance of light and depth, detail and simplicity; the very basis of Asian design principle.
The finer details of this kitchen are noteworthy; the built-in, fully removable jarrah timber chopping board, an industrial-style wok burner and a six burner gas stove top. The design has been intelligently built for optimal functionality, affording the owners the no stress, no fuss living that you would expect from such a tranquil environment. Pressed bamboo laminate drawers and cupboards provide additional storage space and allow for a clutter-free, organised kitchen. Special ‘push-to-open’ doors, separated by charcoal inserts, were used for the overhead cupboards, to detract from the storage element and appear more like a display cupboard. Both the main cooking area and the additional bench space area are tied together with matching modern glass splashbacks in a soothing deep teal, adding a classy, modern edge to the design.
It is clear from the composition of this kitchen that Better Bathrooms & Kitchens have created a true space of functional indulgence. The design elements work with each other to create a room that is at complete equilibrium.
