Standing out for its distinctive colour – doors and panels have been painted in Tesrol Series 600 Style two-pack Satin Deluxe North Sea Blue – the kitchen has a traditional aesthetic with a colourful twist. The extensive use of timber throughout the room also differs from the norm, providing the clients with a focal point in their home as well as a functional space for food preparation.
Better Bathrooms & Kitchens’ clients wanted the kitchen to have glass cabinets for display, wine racks, state-of-theart mechanisms, and, of course, practicality.
In addressing the brief, glass cabinets were installed on the dining side of the kitchen bench along with shelves, enabling the homeowners to display photo frames, ornaments and other items. Wine racks were also installed on either end of the bench and offer a compact, tidy and attractive solution to this part of the brief.
The upstand on this bench is topped with 40mm Tasmanian Oak, which breaks up the darker colour in the room and forms an appealing visual feature. The adjoining, lower bench is topped with durable and hard-wearing 40mm CaesarStone in Organic White.
As well as providing abundant bench space, full extension soft-close drawers and hinges were incorporated into the design, enhancing the functionality of the space. Hettich silver antique handles were used on doors, adding another element of authenticity to the classic look of the kitchen. The kickboards have been painted the same colour as the doors for visual consistency, while the eye-catching textured pattern glass splashback is a contrasting yet complementary addition to the room.
